Windows Forms: How to Check SQL Server Connection in C#

How to check for database availability in C#
Step 1: Click New Project, then select Visual C# on the left, then Windows and then select Windows Forms Application. Name your project "DynamicallyConnectionString" and then click OK
Step 2: Design your form as below
Step 3: Add a connection string to the app.config file as below
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <connectionStrings> <add name="cn" connectionString="Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=Northwind;User ID=sa;Password=123@qaz?;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings> </configuration>
Step 4: Create an AppSetting class to get the connection string in the app.config file

Step 5: Create a SqlHelper class to check connection to sql server

Step 6: Add code to handle your form as below
